The Scouting adventure is frequently interlaced with learning and applying campcraft skills. Depending on a troop’s chosen focus or monthly theme, the presentation, practice, and review of these skills often comes into play during Group Instruction, Skills Instruction, and Breakout GroupsThe skills instruction resource most-often referred to is the Scouts BSA Handbook. The How-To videos on this site are provided as an enhanced source of information.

The best learning takes place when the learner is having fun. At a troop meeting, teaching skills via the EDGE method is a hands-on approach during which time Scouts are actively engaged.

After they are enabled to apply a skill, the time has come to provide an opportunity to put the skill into action. This opportunity can be presented effectively during the games section of the troop meeting with an appropriate Scout Skill Challenge.   View: PUTTING SKILLS INTO ACTION VIDEO.
